Meet Candice

A Pilates Master Trainer and Rehab Master Trainer trained in Singapore and New York, Candice runs both the Inner Strength studio and our Teacher Training School. She is Master Trainer qualified in every element of Pilates including Mat, Reformer, Chair, Cadillac & Barrels, is a pre- and postnatal specialist and a specialist in back care and rehab including breast cancer rehab. She is also a Personal Trainer and L2 CrossFit coach with a wide range of qualifications in strength & conditioning. Here’s a little bit more about her:

My journey with Pilates

4 pregnancies, a decade working in the NHS as a nurse and many years doing high impact sports such as weightlifting had taken their toll on my body and had Ieft me with some serious back issues. Pilates gave me the ability to rehab myself and it completely transformed my body and my quality of life. Now I live pain-free, am stronger and fitter and am ready to take on any challenge. Having seen first-hand what Pilates can do, I decided to dedicate my life to mastering it and to helping others experience the same for themselves.

What I love about Pilates

I love exercise in general, but what I love about Pilates is how comprehensive it is. Pilates is the only exercise system I’ve found which is balanced enough to give you everything you need: where if you do nothing else you’ll be kept fit for life. It works all parts of the body in every plane, it strengthens and mobilises, can be used to build cardio fitness, basically it has everything. Even better, it can be used for rehab, can be scaled, adapted and done by anyone and is fun and varied. It makes you feel good. It works. What more could you want?

What I love about teaching

I love teaching because it’s energising and mentally stimulating. You never know who is going to come through the door or what their needs will be, so you need to be constantly thinking about the best modifications and exercises. It’s also hugely rewarding and satisfying to know you’re making a difference to peoples bodies and lives and helping them feel good and be more functional. I get the same sense of reward as a teacher that I used to get being a nurse. At the end of the day, it’s the opportunity to help people and to make their lives better. That’s what I live for, and what I love the most about teaching.

What kind of teacher am I / What can you expect from my sessions

Being a Master Trainer means I understand the repertoire in its full depth, and that comes across in my programming and teaching.
In my sessions there aren’t as many breaks between exercises, I limit spring changes and I try to make things smooth, flowing and natural. I understand why we do certain exercises in certain ways and can explain that, but it also means I know which exercises pair well with others and why. This means I can balance my programming and sessions so you don’t waste time but you also don’t overemphasise one body part over another. This means you get the results you need – a stronger, leaner, more functional body, not just a 1-hour ‘abs blast’ or an unbalanced workout. I love programming and deliver meticulously thought out sessions – it’s my belief that every move and exercise should have a purpose, not be randomly chosen or taught for no reason. Most importantly, I can modify and adapt exercises to you whoever you are and whatever your needs. I love working with rehab clients and pre- and post-natal clients for example.

I live and breathe Pilates and I’m passionate about what I do. I am constantly learning, studying and refining my technique. I’m not here to fill classes and make money by just going through the motions. I’m here to help people change their lives and to get them results, and I will do whatever I can to make that happen. I want you to enjoy every session and for you to share in my passion. But most of all I want you to leave my sessions feeling positive, energised, happy and strong.

  1. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and
    said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She
    put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
    She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but
    I had to tell someone!
